Lyndon Hooper

Lyndon was born in Georgetown, Guyana, in 1966, and moved to Nepean at age 11, where he played his minor soccer. His sister Charmaine tagged along as they grew up in Nepean playing soccer, tennis, football and even hockey.

Lyndon turned professional in 1987 with the Ottawa Intrepid of the Canadian Soccer League

He continued playing through 1993 with the Montreal Supra, and the Toronto Blizzard.

In 1986 and 1987 Lyndon was named second team CIAU All-Canadian while playing for Wilfred Laurier University.

In 1993/94, Lyndon played Football League with Birmingham City. He returned to North America to play for A-League teams, Montreal Impac , Hampton Roads Mariners, and finally Toronto Lynx, retiring as a player in 2001.

Lyndon holds the distinction of playing in 66 appearances with the Canadian National Soccer Team between 1986 and 1997. He scored three times for Canada. He is the third most capped player in National Team history.

Playing once again as an amateur, with Scarborough GS United in 2005/06, Lyndon’s team won the Senior Men’s Canadian Club Championship.

As an assistant coach with the Toronto Lynx, Lyndon cheerfully says that “no longer do they regard Charmaine as Lyndon’s sister, but now refer to Lyndon as Charmaine’s brother”.
